局外人的简介
年轻美貌的丽贝卡，自从丈夫被杀死之后，她一个人带着孩子本杰继续维持着生活。有一天，身中数弹的乔尼逃亡到了她家，丽贝卡救了并且收留了这个冷血的枪手。两人演绎了一段西部爱情故事。 电影里那些令人难忘而且优美动听的背景音乐是来自挪威的民间歌谣－Bla Tonar Fra Lom & Jenta I Saueflokken ，虽然影片中的“平民百姓”看起来更像是贵格会会员、基督教门诺派中的严紧派或者就是门诺派，实际上在美国并没有参与这种教派的挪威移民。在这段时间前往美国的大部分挪威人应该是路德教会的。此外，他们在谷仓的宗教仪式上唱的赞歌也是挪威语。
